Just in time for Earth Day 2015, the Borland-Groover Clinic announces that they now offer free electric car “fill-ups” at their office near I-95 and J Turner Butler Boulevard. The office at 4800 Belfort Road has installed four EVlink charging stations that are available seven days per week. This free service is for patients, staff, neighbors or anyone who comes by.
In response to the growth of alternative fuels in Florida, First Coast Technical College (FCTC) has created adult continuing educational courses for the professional service technician covering compressed natural gas (CNG). This five-day hands-on course is designed for the professional technician or automotive student and will teach them safety, service procedures, CNG vehicle fueling systems, the nature of gaseous fuels, and how to properly examine the various types of CNG cylinders and installations.

Herbert University Center. More than 100 attendees gathered to experience the latest AFV’s, learn about alternative fuel and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and hear success stories from companies who have switched to alternative fuels.
Our region is rapidly becoming a hub for alternative transportation fuels and businesses are reaping the benefits in reduced fleet expenses. The North Florida Transportation Planning Organization is leading the effort to provide educational opportunities and funding to advance the adoption of alternative fuels. The 2015 AFV Expo will highlight fleet conversion successes and funding for alternative fuel vehicles and infrastructure.

The City of St. Augustine and the North Florida TPO are developing a commercial delivery management plan that provides adequate travel routes and parking locations for commercial delivery vehicles, without negatively affecting visitor traffic, historic properties, congestion, noise and air pollution in St. Augustine. The TPO is holding a public meeting for the FY2014/15 through 2018/19 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) May 28, 6-7 PM in the TPO Board Room, 1022 Prudential Drive.
The North Florida TPO will host a series of public meetings over the next two weeks to get input on transportation needs for the next 20-25 years. Transportation projects must be included in the Long Range Transportation Plan to receive federal funding. The meetings will feature maps and lists of potential project needs identified during the last long range plan update, as well as numerous studies that included public input. The potential projects will be displayed at five stations: Bicycle and Pedestrian; Transit; Freight; Road Capacity; Safety and TSM&O (Transportation System Management & Operations). You will have the opportunity to “vote” for how much to invest in these categories by allocating 10 tokens among the stations. The TPO is also seeking comments on specific projects and recommendations for additional projects to consider.
